- Providing counseling to students, including individual therapy, group therapy, family consultations, and crisis referral.
- Documenting, reporting, and maintaining confidential records and information from counseling-related services including individual therapy, group therapy, family consultations, and crisis referral.
- Evaluating and developing comprehensive treatment plans for individuals including assessment, diagnosis, coordinating treatment with other professionals, and providing community referrals when indicated.
- Clinically supervising graduate practicum students; may clinically supervise unlicensed senior staff clinicians.
- Planning, developing, and presenting outreach presentations, workshop programs, and educational seminars related to mental health issues and available services to students, staff, faculty, and other campus stakeholders.
Level I - Master's degree
Level II - Master's degree plus 2 years of experience in providing counseling and psychological services.
Level III - Master's degree plus 4 years of experience in providing counseling and psychological services.
License and Certification Requirements:
- For social workers, must hold Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) by date of hire.
- Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Alabama is required within 24 months of hire.
- For counselors, must hold Associate Licensed Counselor (ALC) by date of hire.
- Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Alabama is required within 24 months of hire.
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- For social workers, must hold Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) by date of hire.
- Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in the state of Alabama is required within 24 months of hire.
