Responsibilities: Adhere to the company’s values and behaviors as defined by the ONE RWE philosophyAssure that all operation and maintenance activities are performed safely and consistently with policies and procedures. This includes wearing essential safety equipment, including a personal fall arrest system, and identifying potential hazards on the jobClimb wind towers and access wind turbines to perform composite repair & maintenance tasksLift, carry, and transport essential equipment, tools, and materials to the job siteAssist in transportation, setup, and the operation of the up-tower blade access mechanismSupport a team performing platform and ground access composite repairs on multiple turbine manufacturers, including GE, Siemens, Vestas, Nordex, etc.Assist in the mobilization of all repair equipment to the siteAssist in major component replacement, which will primarily focus on bladesAssure proper storage, maintenance, and handling of all Blade Repair Service equipmentWhen assigned, perform safety and other wind farm-related tasks and act as a backup to personnel at other RWE sites when necessaryOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by the manager Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredAn associate degree in science or a related field from an accredited school is preferredA minimum of 2 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, blade repair, transmission, and distribution. Preference will be given to the candidate with some renewable energy experience, preferably in windExperience in project development or adjacent areas within the power sector is an advantage (e.g., market analysis, transmission & interconnection, PPA marketing, electrical engineering, environmental analysis, M&A…)Structured and organized, able to manage multiple projects at the same timeStrong problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, attention to detail and work ethicAll applicants must pass physical fitness tests to maintain Global Wind Organization Certification. In addition, at the discretion of the business, future successful completion of physical fitness tests will be requiredAll applicants must possess an unrestricted driver’s license in good standingWilling to relocate to within 1 hour drive of the siteWilling and able to obtain and maintain an RWE-sponsored Commercial Driver License (CDL), if so requested by RWE, for mobilization of our composite component repair equipmentPreferred: GWO CertificationUnderstanding of wind turbine blade construction, inspection, and repair,including LPS systemsKnowledge of fiberglass typesDemonstrated experience in blade damage assessment and repair.Experience across multiple manufacturers (i.e. Siemens, GE, Vestas, Nordex)Previous Blade Access Platform and rigging experience preferred.Experience of LEPUnderstanding of composite materials, including (but not limited to), epoxyresins, polyurethane fillers and paint, core materials, and mix ratiosAccurate completion of QA/QC documentationAbility to read and understand Engineering Work InstructionsMust be able to maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbsMust be able to climb wind towers on a daily basis. During this task, employees must be able to open/close hatch doors and identify potential safety hazardsMust be able to balance to (1) work in closed and small swaying areas on top of and within wind towers and (2) walk across small surface areas to access areas within wind turbines Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbsAbility to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.)Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the work dayKnowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power toolsKnowledge of environmental and safety policies and proceduresAbility to work within tight deadlinesAbility to multi-task while working independently and as part of a teamAbility and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and TeamsMotivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilitiesIdentify energy isolation points and implement LOTO for protectionKnowledge of computer network communication protocol and theory of operation is desiredAbility to understand and communicate root causes requiredGood communication skills and must value being part of a teamSafety- Promote safety for all at all timesInitiative - Able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to his/her discipline(s) with limited and/or available information WORK ENVIRONMENT:This position is a site-based role that involves occasional travel. Must possess the ability to climb wind towers regularly. It involves the capability to manipulate hatch doors and recognize potential safety risks. Additionally, the individual should be able to crouch, kneel, or half-kneel for intervals of up to five minutes to execute maintenance duties in low areas. Travel up to 75%, multiple worksites, hot/cold weather conditions, irregular hours on short notice.
