Planning and Materials Manager

Position Overview: The Planning & Materials Manager is a member of the facility leadership team with functional responsibility for capacity planning, materials management/flow, and production schedulingPrimary Responsibilities Responsible for continuously optimizing the supply chain materials functions including demand planning, production planning, and production scheduling.
Ensure efficient work center loads, lead times, and material availability to meet customer order requirements.
A key leader in the collaborative relationship between engineering, production, purchasing and quality assurance to ensure a quality process and the product is delivered on time and in full meeting customer expectations.
Manage all ERP and MRP system parameters, to ensure efficient and effective planning results. Identify and implement changes to parameters to positively impact inventory, waste, and schedules. Must be a driver of lean manufacturing and a lean culture.
Timely management of delivery schedule plan, with an eye toward continuous improvement in existing practices, including development and implementation of effective corrective actions when supply chain, materials, production planning, and warehousing issues are identified.
Review and suggest corrections of the bill of material and routing errors, nomenclature errors, and other scheduling-related issues.
Monthly reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as outlined by the plant leadership team.
Set goals, coach, and hold accountable direct reports to benchmark and implement supply chain, material, and production planning best practices to promote continuous improvement.
Estimate the amount of material, equipment, and labor required for production.
Promptly addressing and resolving production issues to minimize delays in production.
Recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
This role will be responsible for understanding all aspects of production facility resources, capacity, labor, quality standards, bottlenecks, challenges, and opportunities, with the expectation of developing demonstrated reliability in production results and planning accuracy.
Develop weekly finite schedules for all production work centers. Release production orders to production lines, ensuring clear direction and confirmation of the plan.
Collaborate with the supply chain on capacity limitations or other risks to the master plan. Coordinate with the supply chain team to integrate the facility production plan with the following resource plans. Contribute to the development and continual improvement of the planning process: Rolling Master Production Schedule at SKU level and Rolling Rough Cut Capacity Plan (RCCP) for plant scheduling, budgeting, capital planning and resource planning.
Working closely with Purchasing, developing and maintain the rolling Material Resource Planning (MRP) process.
Support root cause analysis and investigation of customer misses related to production planning or execution.
Develop contingency plans to support customer needs with existing capabilities.
Take a lead role in managing raw and packaging material inventories and ensuring raw material ordering occurs inefficient economic order quantity and timing.
Be the single point of contact (SPOC) to sales and customer service to provide status updates on orders (production, shipment, and quality release status). Participate in weekly customer service and supply chain communication forums, addressing any deviations from the plan or customer requirements, with alternative solutions.
Oversee the warehouse operation including receiving raw materials, shipping finished goods, and inventory management. Monitor the warehouse capacity and optimize the warehouse space. Prioritize order shipments to Distribution Center (DC) and direct shipments to customers.
Support new product introduction projects from prototype to production. Contribute knowledge of site capabilities and limitations, capacity, and efficiency opportunities.
Support SKU portfolio evaluation processes with input on production complexities or added costs, efficiencies, raw material mapping, and statistics. Provide support as needed for sku de-listing, including system changes, raw material evaluation, and identification of stranded resources.
Requirements:Education:Bachelor's degree Prior Knowledge/Experience1. Proficient SAP experience is a critical MUST
2. Preferred CSCP, CPIM certification
3. Production experience preferably in FDA regulated industries
4. Experience in supply chain system for raw materials
5. Experience in purchasing is a plus
6. Experience with power BI systems is a plus.
