Overview:

Waterway has an immediate opportunity for a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist on our Accounting team.

 

The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for the A/P process, ensuring timely and accurate payments, and will also help prepare journal entries, audit store activity, and contribute to our monthly closing process. This is a full-time position, working approximately 40 hours per week, and will be based at our Corporate Office in Chesterfield, MO and will report to the Controller.

Responsibilities:
  • Acquire appropriate approvals from relevant parties for all payment requests.
  • Process payment requests in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide timely updates as needed to vendors and internal parties.
  • Prepare journal entries to appropriately allocate payments.
  • Audit store activity and provide reporting and updates to department managers and operational leaders.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree, or minimum of 2 years A/P experience plus high school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, Monday to Friday.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Meet professional appearance standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.

The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:

  • Sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong initiative and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn, and a high interest in professional and personal development.
Physical Requirements:

Physical Requirements

  • Environmental – office based, with requirement to be able to work onsite at locations outside for limited periods of time.
  • Physical – must be able to walk, sit for extended periods of time.
  • Vision and Hearing – Far and near visual acuity, peripheral vision and depth perception. Hear, understand, and distinguish speech from other sounds.
  • Language – must be able to fluently speak and understand English when communicating with other team members, managers, and customers for business related purposes.
  • Attendance – maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance. Work as assigned schedule.
