The Controller will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our mission of helping our members provide for today and protect for tomorrow. This involves providing timely and accurate internal and external reporting, including Asset Liability Management (ALM) Committee financial reports, Board of Director’s financial reports, subsidiary ledger balancing reports, Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) Collateral reports, NCUA 5300 quarterly reports, and other regulatory reports as required.

The Controller for Intrepid Credit Union is responsible for ensuring that all our records are properly accounted for, displaying integrity and consistency. This includes following generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP) and regulatory rules and regulations. As the Controller, you will also be responsible for conducting various financial analyses for management, the Board of Directors, and outside agencies.

As the Controller, you will supervise a staff of 6 outstanding accountants and be responsible for leading, coaching, and supervising them to ensure their success. This includes providing training, establishing goals and objectives, monitoring and evaluating performance, and providing guidance as needed to achieve objectives.

What will you Bring?

The minimum qualifications for the Controller position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, or a related field.
  • CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a high-functioning accounting department in a financial institution.
  • Minimum of 3 – 7 years of executive/finance experience within the financial institutions industry.
  • Extensive experience with core information systems such as Symitar Episys, preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Proven ability to be thorough, accurate and have effective follow through.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
