RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions -

  • Coordinate and oversee Career Technical Education (CTE) initiatives and programs throughout Outreach, identifying growth potential at the Newton and McPherson Centers and area high schools.
  • Partner with Business and Industry, Admissions, Marketing, Program Advisors, Institutional Research, and other HutchCC departments as needed.
  • Provide advising services of more than 50% of the work time and maintain records for students interested in CTE program areas utilizing multiple delivery systems, including virtual, text, phone calls, face-to-face, and/or email.
  • Serve as the Outreach content expert for CTE courses and programs, including Excel in CTE, career development plans, student transfer opportunities, and employment options.
  • Facilitate all aspects of Early College and Post-secondary enrollment for CTE courses in Outreach.
  • Analyze current CTE offerings in area high schools and establish relationships with HS partners with the goal of building opportunities for technical education.
  • Collaborate with area high schools and HutchCC staff to create the CTE course schedules.
  • Ensure CTE instructor sheets are complete, courses are certified and evaluated, and grades are posted.
  • Attend Advisory Board meetings for Career Technical Education programs, attend job fairs, career fairs, and events in outreach to promote Career Technical Education opportunities.
  • Communicate scholarship opportunities to students; make scholarship recommendations for current and prospective students to the Executive Director of Outreach.
  • Coordinate and market secondary and post-secondary student enrollment opportunities for the Brooks Regional Center for Career & Technical Education programs.
  • Collaborate with Department V Co-Chairs to assist with KBOR and Perkins initiatives.
  • Arrive for work on time, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
  • Comply with HutchCC policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Serve actively on campus committees.
Secondary -
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by Associate Director of Outreach.
  • Participate as a member of the Outreach Team.
  • Travel to other HutchCC locations as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree required; baccalaureate degree preferred
  • Practical knowledge of the field of career & technical education, preferred
  • Experience working with college and secondary school students, preferred
  • Growth-oriented mindset
  • Ability and willingness to work a non-routine schedule, visiting high schools and off-site locations
  • The ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with students, faculty, administration, and potential stakeholders/employers.
  • Strong written/oral communication and listening skills as well as organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Maintain confidentiality in a student-centered environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Visual acuity to view a computer terminal; understand words and respond effectively/appropriately.
  • Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.
  • Physical and mental qualifications must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Physical requirements include excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; ability to work independently; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light to moderate, indoor work environment.

HOURLY WAGE and STATUS:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the HutchCC administration. This full-time administrative staff position is 12 months annual, benefit eligible and exempt. This position is located at the Outreach Centers, McPherson and Newton.
