The Role:

ColdSnap is seeking a Software Engineering Co-op to join our team in Billerica, MA. As a co-op in this role, you'll gain hands-on experience working with embedded systems, sensor integration, and real-time software development. You will contribute to creating intuitive, responsive interfaces and optimizing control systems that help our appliance deliver consistent, high-quality user experiences. Additionally, you will support the development of test equipment that validates appliance functionality at the factory. We're looking for a motivated student with a strong foundation in software development, an eye for detail, and a willingness to learn.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the software team to develop embedded software for the ColdSnap appliance.
• Integrate and test sensors and control systems to ensure high reliability and performance.
• Assist in developing user interfaces that enhance customer interactions with the appliance.
• Optimize code for efficiency, performance, and resource usage within a constrained embedded environment.
• Participate in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software issues with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Design and build test equipment to validate appliance functionality at the factory.
• Contribute to design reviews and provide input on project status and development.
• Document and present development progress and results through reports and presentations.
• Support the software team in developing test frameworks and automation scripts as needed.

Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of programming languages, such as C, C++, Python, or Java.
• Familiarity with embedded systems or real-time operating systems (RTOS) is a plus.
• Interest in learning about sensor integration, control systems, and user interface design.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and contribute actively to tasks.
