Tooling Engineer / Supervisor:

Summary:
The Tool Room Supervisor is responsible to supervise toolroom employees and manage activities to achieve continuous improvement of cost, quality and capacity meeting overall corporate goals for quality and tooling cost reduction. This may apply to all Manufacturing Disciplines such as but not limited to Stamping, Forming, PEM Machining, Molding, tubing, Needle manufacturing, Machine and Assembly fixturing.

The Tooling Engineer/Supervisor is expected to:
* Identify opportunities to improve performance of the repair and maintenance tool room year over year.
* Manage staffing and training requirements to ensure adequate technical support.
* Create and maintain sufficient documentation to support operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Research new equipment and technical innovations to increase shop efficiency and facilitate continuous improvement meetings with the department.
* Analyzes diagnoses and remedies the most intricate and difficult manufacturing issues as it relates to Stamping, Forming, PEM Machining, Molding, Needle Manufacturing, Machine and Assembly fixturing assisting the Engineering groups as needed.
* Ensures flawless execution of projects through detailed planning, communication, and tracking.
* Analyzes and resolves set-up and tooling problems and assists toolmakers as needed.
* Estimates resource requirements to ensure timely completion of jobs with limited overtime hours.
* Oversees production, dies, molds, PEM tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and all other tooling equipment to assure maximum uptime and minimum maintenance.
* Identifies and implements continuous process improvements to cost, quality and productivity using supporting data.
* Develops plans to solve quality issues within area of responsibility.
* Identifies quantifiable opportunities to increase efficiency by implementing effective management systems and practices. This includes machine uptime and cost reductions to replacement components.
* Review"s spare part tooling and source to drive improvements in delivery, quality and pricing
* Ensures tooling personnel are adequately cross trained in all technical centers to minimize production downtime in all areas of responsibility.
* Identifies, creates and implements documentation as required to comply with company philosophy of assuring accurate and repeatable tooling and process documentation.

* Provides regular and timely feedback to employees, acknowledging success and documenting the need for improvement.
* Ensure that personnel are trained to perform required tasks and that established procedures and instructions are performed appropriately. Schedule required resources as necessary.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor"s degree in engineering is preferred. Or 7-10 years" experience in the maintenance, repair and construction of progressive and compound dies, tools, jigs and fixtures or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Must have a thorough knowledge of machine tool construction and operations and the use of tools, machine shop practices, and the working qualities of materials.
* Must have a thorough and complete knowledge of manufacturing processes; understanding feeds, presses and other auxiliary equipment used in production.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION
* Mechanical aptitude test is required.
