With 20 wholly owned clinical sites and 4 affiliated sites, we conduct in-patient and out-patient phase I-IV clinical research studies. ERG has 400+ in-patient beds, a large and growing database of patients suffering from mental illness, neurological disorders, sleep disorders, addictions, Acute and Chronic Pain, diabetes, and other illnesses as well as normal healthy volunteers who participate in trials for the advancement of medicine. With access to over 32 million patients/subjects and 5000 + completed trials, ERG continues to grow its capabilities and expand into indications where there are tremendous unmet medical needs in the United States and globally.

Job Description:

The Sleep Technician is responsible for performing sleep studies with digital equipment. This role completes all study related procedures under the director of the Unit Director and Site Director. It is essential that this position maintains accurate, confidential files and documentation of study participations.

Responsibilities:
  • Skilled operation of digital and analog sleep equipment while complying with all health and safety requirements
  • Standard electrode placement for PSG recordings
  • Set-up and execution of bio calibrations and/or technical calibrations in accordance with specific study protocols and specific site instructions
  • Determine and eliminate test interference due to noise, sweat, hair, inaccurate electrode placement, and abnormalities of a biological vs. technical nature.
  • Convert computer files of several hours sleep results to proper format, catalogue, and process for neurologist reading.
  • Provide comprehensive minute-by-minute notes on entire sleep time recorded for each subject to document events that occur during the recording period.
  • Read and interpret study protocols regarding specific sleep montage set-ups in preparation of study start.
  • Note and correct equipment malfunctions, trouble-shoot computer & related sleep equipment (including infrared lighting fixtures and nocturnal video cameras)
  • Clean and sterilize equipment.
  • Keep sleep rooms and related areas clean and prepared for subjects, including stripping, and remaking the beds with clean linens.
  • Additionally, this role may encompass responsibilities beyond those outlined above, as required by the evolving needs of the organization. This job description is intended as a foundation and may be subject to expansion or modification to best suit ERG's objectives.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education and experience
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • A minimum of one year's experience in sleep disorders is required. RPSGT certification preferred.
    • Proficiency in EKGs preferred.
    • Proficiency in Lab draws, processing, and shipping preferred.
  • Requirements
    • Knowledgeable in medical terminology
    • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal)
    • Ability to perform overnight business travel.
    • Basic computer skills to include Word, Excel, as well as proprietary applications unique to the clinical research industry (such as Study Manager)
    • Organized
    • Able to comply with health and safety regulations.
    • Very detail oriented
