Job Title: Sleep Medicine Chief

We are seeking an experienced Sleep Medicine Physician to serve as our Sleep Medicine Section Chief at the VA San Diego Healthcare System.

About the Role

This is a full-time supervisory position with primary emphasis in Sleep Medicine Program management, patient care, interpretation of sleep recordings, supervision of staff physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, sleep technicians, and clinical teaching.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the Sleep Medicine Program and provide clinical direction to staff physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and sleep technicians.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the Sleep Medicine Program.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and sleep technicians.
  • Provide clinical teaching and training to students, residents, and fellows.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety activities.
Requirements
  • Board Certification in Sleep Medicine.
  • 5 years of post-fellowship experience in Sleep Medicine.
  • Successful completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited fellowship in Sleep Medicine.
  • Unrestricted U.S. Medical License.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Post Graduate training experience.
  • Research experience.
  • Sleep Lab development experience.
  • Sleep Medicine fellowship program development experience.

  • $315,000 - $370,000 compensation package based on training, experience, and local labor market.
  • Annual performance bonus of up to an additional $12,000 per year.
