General Function:
Manages and provides hands-on leadership of General Maintenance staff. Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of General Maintenance staff. Leads event set up of equipment for District functions, movement of instructional materials, furniture and equipment. Education/Training/Experience:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. Four (3) years custodial, maintenance or grounds experience with at least one of those years being in a lead position. Valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Preferred: Bilingual, Spanish/English. Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:
Leadership skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Knowledge of maintenance and grounds cleaning products and machinery. Ability to articulate instructions orally and in writing, and to evaluate cost effective methods for purchase and use of supplies. Knowledge of basic safety requirements including MSDS.
Resources Used in Performing Job Include (but are not limited to):
District vehicles. Computer and calculator. Use of safety gear. Forklift. Gardening tools and equipment. Shovels. Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
Must have the ability to sit at a desk or computer for periods of the day. Computer and telephone use. Requires excellent interpersonal skills to deal with calls from both inside and outside of the District. Manual dexterity is required to operate computers and other office equipment. Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. Must have the ability to lift at least 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Environmental Conditions:
Work environment varies from a typical office, to school sites and maintenance areas, to warehouse. Occasionally required to be outdoors during inclement weather. Possible exposure to unpleasant odors and fumes.

Essential Job Functions:

All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the organization. Current essential functions include the following:
  1. Coordinates activities of other General Maintenance and Warehouse staff engaged in inventorying, organizing, compiling orders, moving supplies and other District materials, turf care, and athletic field layout for various athletic activities.
  2. Keeps inventory of stock and equipment and submits orders for supplies to the Director of General Services.
  3. Performs any other duties assigned by the Director of Facilities and Maintenance or the Maintenance Supervisor for District facilities or to support the function of the operation of the Facilities and Maintenance Dept.
  4. Maintains and cares for school grounds as needed
  5. .Provides turf care as needed.
  6. Prepares athletic field layout for various athletic activities.
  7. Leads the set up and take down of District events and activities.
  8. Plows and shovels snow from sidewalks and driveways and spread sand and salt, or ashes to prevent slipping.
  9. Collects and disposes of leaves and refuse.
  10. Insures warehouse is operating in and orderly manner if applicable.
  11. Orders custodial and maintenance equipment as needed.
  12. Conducts warehouse inventory at the end of each fiscal year.
  13. Maintains control of stock to insure accuracy of physical inventory.
  14. May work inside during inclement weather on assigned custodial jobs.
  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.
  16. Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.
  17. Properly notifies supervisor and/or designee of absences or tardiness.
  18. Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
  19. Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.
  20. Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations and appropriate/ special application
  21. Protects the District's resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and equipment.
  22. Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid in the prevention of muscle strain/ injury.
