Job Overview

This role is essential for ensuring the operational integrity of the campus facilities through comprehensive electrical maintenance and general upkeep. The individual will take on responsibilities that include leading maintenance efforts and providing support to the Director of Buildings & Grounds as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts routine electrical maintenance across all campus buildings, focusing on the upkeep and repair of electrical systems, lighting fixtures, power outlets, and HVAC equipment. Responsibilities also include the installation of new electrical circuits and appliances.
  • Oversees the daily functionality of heating and cooling systems in all facilities, managing both automated and manual systems, including boilers and mini-split systems.
  • Engages in general maintenance tasks such as furniture relocation, event setup, and building inspections during unoccupied periods. Responsible for preventative maintenance activities including lubrication, filter changes, and light bulb replacements. Participates in mandatory training sessions as directed.
  • Serves as the lead technician for maintenance operations and provides coverage for the Director of Buildings & Grounds when required.
  • Handles the maintenance and installation of communication systems, including telephone and data networks.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by management.

Performance Metrics:

  • Maintains current knowledge of the college's evolving electrical requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability to respond effectively to emergency maintenance situations.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members on special projects and events.

Qualifications:

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance or a related field.
  • Possession of a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized training program in a technical field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals beyond immediate colleagues, often requiring interaction with the public and vendors.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in electrical work is required; general maintenance experience is preferred. Strong communication skills are essential. Must be capable of working in various weather conditions and lifting heavy objects. Position may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and noise, as well as working at heights.

Compensation: Grade 12 (Minimum Hourly $21.99)
