GNC Modeling and Simulation Developer

Corvid Technologies is an engineering services company that provides aerodynamics and flight dynamics support to a number of defense programs through the application of high-fidelity computational models. Corvid develops and uses its own tools in support of these programs and is integrated with both the program offices and the prime contractors for the systems we support.
Corvid's Guidance, Navigation, and Control group is actively seeking highly qualified software developers with experience in modeling and simulation of flight vehicles. Applicants must be US Citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. New graduates must be able to demonstrate a firm background in C++ software design, implementation practices, and vehicle modeling experience. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced degrees and experience in time domain flight dynamic simulation development on cluster machines or real-time execution environments. Experienced candidates must have a minimum of 2-5 years of experience and be able to demonstrate the ability to develop missile flight simulations for the purposes of guidance, navigation, and control algorithm verifications.
Responsibilities
- Develop, analyze, and integrate Multiple-Input Multiple-Output autopilot algorithms for flight vehicle stabilization and control
- Develop and analyze trajectory optimization and guidance methods
- Develop, test, and maintain autopilot algorithms in Corvid's six degree of freedom simulation model
- Support development of guided supersonic and hypersonic flight vehicles
- Develop and perform test plans for ground testing of GNC algorithms in Corvid's GNC laboratories
- Day-to-day informal and formal report generation
- Support flight testing
- M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, math, computer science, or physics.
- Strong background in both Numerical Mathematics and Computer Science (algorithms, data structures, etc.). Related course work or previous experience are highly desired.
- 5 years of C++11 or later experience.
- Proficient in shell scripting languages.
- Direct experience in creating and implementing parallel/concurrent algorithms for high performance computing systems.
- Direct experience in implementing time domain flight vehicle simulations.
- Familiar with MPI and multithreading packages.
- Ability to write clear, elegant, and maintainable codes.
- Familiar with version control, continuous integration, and software testing tools.
- An open-minded team player with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Direct experience in implementing vehicles model in a real-time Linux environment.
- Direct experience in building simulation systems for modern HPC systems.
- 10 years of C++11 or later experience.
- C++14/17 experience.
- 5+ years of industry experience.
- US Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (please indicate citizenship in your resume and/or cover letter failure to do so may delay your consideration for the opening)
