Working/Functional Title Ast Vice President of Human Resources for OHS Position Summary The OHS Assistant Vice President of Human Resources (AVP-HR) reports to the Executive Vice President for Health Sciences and serves as a key member of the OHS executive leadership team. The AVP-HR provides strategic leadership by identifying human resources needs and opportunities across the OHS enterprise, which includes the Colleges of Human Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine and Nursing, and MSU Health Care, Inc, and articulating those to the EVP and the OHS executive team. The AVP-HR is expected to be an enterprise-wide thinker who both leads and partners with other senior leaders across OHS and the university to develop a forward-thinking people strategy that will drive a high-performing, efficient and effective organization. The AVP-HR will identify, propose and implement an effective organizational structure for a people-centered, progressive OHS human resources unit, and leading by example, will help to nurture a respectful and caring culture throughout the OHS. The AVP-HR is responsible for developing and executing HR strategic planning that supports the over-arching vision, mission and goals of OHS, and for operational initiatives that support its business plan and strategic initiatives, including all aspects of human capital management such as talent acquisition, training and development, performance management, succession planning and analyses of people-related metrics and trends across the various units that comprise the OHS. KEY DELIVERABLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategy: • Lead the human resources strategic direction, and partner with OHS executive leaders including the EVP, college deans, HCI CEO, and others to understand how HR can best support business strategies, annual priorities, and entrepreneurship goals of the OHS. • Develop and implement a human resources strategy with identified priorities that aligns with the business goals of the OHS and supports entrepreneurial growth, while fostering a respectful and inclusive culture. • Develop and propose a plan to elevate the delivery of people services to all faculty and staff throughout the OHS enterprise, which could include development of a shared services model that would more effectively and efficiently meet the needs of OHS constituents. • Assess, study, propose and then lead efforts with the colleges to implement consistent policies and processes for faculty hiring, onboarding and career development (RPT), ensuring adherence to the university's policies and procedures. • Effectively communicate, enthusiastically support and execute the HR strategy. • Maintain internal reporting mechanisms and track employee data in order to make decisions using historical and predictive models and respond to requests for metrics. Leadership: • Build strong relationships with HR and faculty affairs leaders in the health colleges and HCI in order to lead and serve as an internal consultant, especially in the areas of talent acquisition, negotiating offers, communicating performance expectations, employee development, feedback, coaching, and employee relations to ensure implementation of HR best practices organization wide. • Lead recruitment efforts and/or lead search committees for selected hard to fill or high-level positions. • Provide advice and support for the colleges' annual review processes for faculty; lead annual review processes for the EVP's direct reports; provide administrative support for 5-year dean reviews. • Support the staff performance excellence process, providing leadership and consulting services to frontline managers in support of the performance review process. • Define the OHS DEI plan and develop and lead its i
