You may also view the full position description on the Agency intranet at the following link: PD Search Provides technical advice and guidance regarding disability claims to disability examiners and supervisors; reviews complex cases; has final adjudicative authority on the full range of disability claims; and, as requested, adjudicate disability claims under Titles, II, XVI, XVIII. Sufficient medical knowledge to determine the degree of physical and mental limitation resulting from impairment. Ability to present medical and nonmedical facts, in both professional and lay terminology, and ability to communicate those facts in clear, concise, and logical terms, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of sources from which additional evidence of work activity or medical condition can be obtained. Knowledge of the use of the computer terminal for disability examiner actions, including extraction of relevant information from various data bases. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications WHO MAY APPLY: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must include the development, examination, evaluation, adjudication, or authorization of claims for disability and death compensation; analyzing and evaluating medical evidence and discrepancies to determine causes and develop solutions; develops evidence regarding work-related issues, including evidence of special consideration, subsidy, and impairment-related work expense; and ability to communicate orally and in writing. NONCOMPETITIVE CONSIDERATION DUE TO SPECIAL HIRING AUTHORITY Applications for noncompetitive consideration will be accepted from SSA employees in the area of consideration who are currently serving under the following types of appointments: Schedule A, Reg. 213.3102 (U) appointments for individuals with disabilities; and time limited appointments for veterans with a compensable service-connected disability of 30% or more. Applicants serving under these provisions do not need to submit copies of your disability or Veteran's documentation.
