POSITION SUMMARY

Travel Required: In-state travel to Long-term care facilities

Works under the direction of the supervising faculty physician to provide medical care for family medicine, long term care and hospice patients. Will assist with the education and training of residents and medical students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Performs all medical assessments according to Kansas State law and in conjunction with policies of the
Medical Practice Association (MPA) and facility
  • Performs physical exams with detailed histories
  • Provides urgent and emergency medical care when necessary
  • Evaluates patients and prescribes medication and treatment established by written protocols
  • Provides telemedicine clinical services
  • Orders and reviews X-Ray, laboratory, pathology, reports and records
  • Reviews cases with supervising physician on a regular basis
  • Communicates clearly, written and orally
  • Completes documentation of patient encounters accurately and promptly
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with supervising physician, colleagues, patients, residents and medical students
  • Attends applicable meetings
  • Maintains knowledge of and adheres to all standards for Universal Precautions for blood and body fluid
  • Knowledge of billing practices and familiar with long-term care and hospice regulations
  • Complete all billing and medical records documentation within thirty (30) business days of the patient visit or less time if required by an insurance company, other payor of services, or the hospital or institution at which clinician is performing services.
  • Understands and follows all HIPAA guidelines and procedures

Education: Licensed APRN or PA

Experience: Two to four years related experience

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Computer Skills

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel

Ability to effectively and efficiently use the EHR

Able to skillfully use telemedicine technology

Certificates & Licenses

Licensed in the State of Kansas

Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants

or Kansas Board of Nursing
