Job Description

Job Title: Construction Superintendent

Job Type: This is a temporary position expected to last 15 months. There is no guarantee that the applicant/employee will be retained after the project is closed out.

Overview: We are seeking a seasoned Construction Superintendent to oversee a wide spectrum of construction activities, including site civil earthworks, paving, underground utilities, electrical, fire systems, water, sewer, building foundations, demolition, small office building, building fire-plumbing-AC, and landscaping. This role will involve managing both major subcontractors for foundational work and several minor subcontractors for additional site tasks.

Responsibilities:
Project Oversight:
  • Supervise and coordinate all construction activities to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors involved in site civil, paving, utilities, electrical, fire systems, water, sewer, building foundations, demolition, office building work, fire-plumbing-AC, and landscaping.
Planning and Scheduling:
  • Develop and implement project schedules, milestones, and timelines.
  • Coordinate with project managers to align construction activities with overall project goals and deadlines.
Quality Assurance and Safety:
  • Ensure workmanship and materials meet quality standards and comply with building codes and regulations.
  • Enforce safety protocols and OSHA regulations on site. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
Communication and Reporting:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between project managers, subcontractors, and senior management.
  • Provide regular updates, progress reports, and documentation on project status, issues, and resolutions.
Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution:
  • Anticipate and proactively address construction challenges, conflicts, and scope gaps.
  • Implement effective solutions to ensure project continuity and success.

Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a construction supervision role, with extensive knowledge of site civil, asphalt and concrete paving, and underground utility work.
  • Education: A 4-year college degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of construction processes and ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors simultaneously.
  • Organization Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple engineered plan sets and foresee potential conflicts.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Computer Proficiency: Strong computer skills to maintain detailed daily logs and use project management software effectively.
Reporting Structure:
  • This position reports to the Project Manager and Vice President.
Work Environment:
  • Expected to work onsite and operate from an office trailer located at the job site.
