Primary Purpose:
Plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive, proactive guidance program to encourage all students to maximize personal growth and development. Identify and support students potentially at risk of failing current grade level or not graduating due to academic, attendance and/or behavioral issues. Collaborate with counseling department, campus leadership team and/or the Curriculum and Instruction Department to deliver programs and services addressing student social, emotional and behavioral health needs within an academic setting.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree or current enrollment in program leading to Master's degree and full counselor certification or
Valid Texas Counselor certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Evidence of leadership skills, especially in the area of diverse populations and at-risk students
Ability to collaborate with diverse staff and community members in the delivery or programs and services to at-risk students
Working knowledge of state codes, TEA guidance of high school diploma requirements, and counseling services
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Strong computer skills in working with internet and software programs
Working skills in Microsoft office and Excel

Experience:
Two years teaching experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. As determined by individual student needs, collaborate with campus and district departments and staff, community partners, law enforcement, students, families, etc. maintain student engagement and academic achievement. Maintain confidentiality in adherence to laws.
  2. Maintain and facilitate Edmentum enrollment for all students assigned to the program on the campus using the Branching Minds system and district processes.
  3. Develop personalized student support plans designed to address academic, behavioral or attendance barriers that impede academic achievement for Credit Recovery Program Level 3 students.
  4. Facilitate campus behavior support, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of individual student intervention plans and/or the coordination of social-emotional learning, mental health or character-building campus initiatives for Credit Recovery Program Level 3 students
  5. Routinely evaluate, document, and monitor academic performance, social-emotional well-being, attendance, and discipline in accordance with campus, district, state and federal program guidelines.
  6. As needed, facilitate conflict mediation between students to resolve matters impacting student achievement for Credit Recovery Program Level 3 students.
  7. As needed, provide intervention services to students, staff or families in situations deemed as crisis or critical by campus or district leadership for Credit Recovery Program Level 3 students.
  8. Participate in campus or district committees as needed to monitor and report on the academic or behavioral progress of identified students.
  9. Participate in appropriate professional growth activities.
  10. Establish and maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community service contacts.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by Principal.
