JMT is seeking a Mechanical Inspector with Water/Wastewater experience to be assigned from the Pittsburgh, PA Office. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Inspecting all aspects of utility projects including: roads, sewer collection systems, wastewater treatment plants, water distribution systems, water treatment plants etc. Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to construction requirements and safety regulations Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and safety standards Assign, schedule and maintain inspection staff throughout all phases of the project Work on behalf of the Client to resolve construction related field issues Communicate and provide recommendation for field issues/conflicts/changes to owner Maintains and reviews comprehensive project records including daily diaries, documentation of construction workforce, equipment, and materials records, inspection reports, project photos, as-built plans, pay quantity records, progress schedules, work orders and monthly payment estimates. Coordinate and monitor material testing, air balance testing and systems testing. Monitor Commissioning process including equipment testing, functional performance tests and building integration of inter-related systems. Monitor deficiency logs to assure follow up of re-testing and system performance. Coordinate with existing maintenance staff and operations when utility outages, noise control, traffic control or security is required by the work. Attend pre-outage planning meetings Monitor project close-out procedures including O&M manuals, as-builts, punchlists, and warranty walk-through. Issue punchlists for above ceiling, open wall and Substantial Completion inspections, and revisit to confirm completion of deficiencies Follow OSHA Guidelines to ensure safe working environment (lock-out/tag- out, maintain MSDS sheets etc.) Coordinate with local health, safety, fire and building inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Demonstrate independent and effective problem solving/decision making. Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities Perform other related duties as assigned Required Experience High school diploma or equivalent Strong Computer proficiency Active driver's license Minimum of 5 years of construction inspection experience in water and wastewater field, involving pipeline, pumping stations, treatment plant, etc. Must possess knowledge and experience in construction testing requirements, as well as knowledge in construction inspection procedures, and inspections methodologies, Must possess OSHA 10 hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire, Ability to work in a team environment Ability to enter, transcribe, record, store and maintain information in written and electronic forms Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Knowledge of codes and regulations Preferred Experience A Two- year technical school certification in mechanical or electrical construction or technical associate degree a plus Experience with facility start-up and commissioning and project close-out a plus. Experience with construction of new treatment plants and building construction a plus Working Cond tions Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed.
