Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of utility projects, including roadways, sewer systems, wastewater treatment facilities, and water distribution networks.
  • Analyze and interpret project plans, specifications, and construction methodologies to ensure adherence to safety and construction standards.
  • Oversee and coordinate inspection activities to guarantee contractor compliance with project documents and safety regulations.
  • Manage and schedule inspection personnel throughout all project phases.
  • Act as a liaison for the client to address and resolve field-related construction issues.
  • Provide recommendations and communicate effectively regarding any conflicts or changes encountered on-site.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily logs, workforce records, inspection reports, and photographic evidence.
  • Coordinate material testing and monitor the commissioning process, ensuring all systems function as intended.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams during utility outages and manage traffic and safety protocols as necessary.
  • Oversee project close-out procedures, including the compilation of operation and maintenance manuals and final inspections.
  • Adhere to OSHA guidelines to promote a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with local inspectors to ensure compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving and decision-making skills independently.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
  • Valid driver's license is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of inspection experience in the water and wastewater sector, including pipeline and treatment facilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction testing protocols and inspection methodologies.
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification is required or must be obtained within three months of employment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Skilled in documenting and maintaining information in both written and electronic formats.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal oversight.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification in mechanical or electrical construction or an associate degree is advantageous.
  • Experience in facility start-up, commissioning, and project close-out is preferred.
  • Background in the construction of new treatment facilities and related structures is beneficial.

Working Conditions:

Fieldwork is required, involving physical activities such as bending, kneeling, and lifting objects up to 25 lbs. The role may necessitate working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
