This is not a remote position and requires working on site in the Boston and surrounding areas. Some hours may be hybrid but majority will require being on site to perform duties.

Role:

The Healthcare IT Project Manager will champion, establish, and reinforce Project Management Industry best practices focused on proposal & business case development, requirements gathering, schedule development, oversight & status updates and related project management practices through the lifecycle. The Healthcare IT Project Manager will also manage and oversee multiple simultaneous small, medium, and large projects, control project activities, procure adequate resources in accordance with schedules while making timely adjustments to maintain or improve milestone dates. Also, provides support to internal team members and cross-functional teams.

Our ideal Healthcare IT Project Manager is a self-starter, works under minimal supervision and navigates a highly complex matrix environment including internal and external customers and stakeholders. In addition, the Project Manager will analyze business, clinical and IT processes to determine inefficiencies while assisting in identifying solutions to close gaps, solve problems, and improve processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Introduces and reinforces project management methodologies and tools across multi-functional IT teams, internal stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Assists with strategic goal oversight, monitoring, and adjustment - based on institutional portfolio, program, or project needs.
  • Reviews project proposals & grants, defines business cases, scope & level of effort, identifies goals & objectives, determines capital & support costs, outlines risks, assumptions & constrains, verifies priorities, identifies deliverables, creates project plans, and sets timelines.
  • Uses off-the-shelf project management tools to track project performance and schedule adherence.
  • Organizes and leads project meetings with assigned resources, stakeholders, and vendors to discuss project goals and track progress throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Documents current and future technical workflows as well as end-user workflows with the objective of capturing a summary overview, listing all relevant steps, and identifying potential gaps while offering recommendations to support institutional improvements.
  • Provides hands-on-assistance with ancillary system configurations, testing & validation rounds and training when necessary.
  • Applies change control management techniques as part of project work or when necessary to meet project scope variations.
  • Summarizes and presents clear and concise progress updates, findings, or recommendations using verbal, and written communication techniques.
  • Documents, analyzes, and applies lessons learned from one project to next improving and refining each iteration as a repeatable process.
  • Provides support to cross-functional teams including technical & application teams, training team, and vendor resources.
  • Stays informed on industry trends, technologies, and best practices applicable organizational objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific, technical, health informatics, or mathematics field required, Master’s level degree MBA, MPH, or Health Informatics preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project management in a Healthcare IT or related setting working with leading industry Electronic Health Records (I.e., Epic®, Cerner, Meditech, NextGen) or ancillary clinical systems
  • Familiarity with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) operations preferred.
  • Professional Project Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • Understanding of Project Management Office processes, strategies, and methodologies (waterfall/agile) in a healthcare, clinical, business, and technical setting.
  • Familiarity with project management off-the-shelf tools.
  • Aptitude for applying analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to predict clinical, business, or technical challenges and looks to proactively head-off obstacles.
  • Ability to communicate under pressure, speak publicly, prepare, deliver presentations, and escalate priority issues.
  • May be required to travel occasionally between one or more offices and local sites and must be able to do so in a timely manner
