The role you’ll contribute:

The Pharmacy Automation Manager is responsible for all activities regarding the Rx Plus/Expedien Rx Pharmacy automation staff. This position coordinates the day-to-day activities related to wholesale drug order receiving and prescription fulfillment to ensure timely completion in accordance with the pharmacy’s stated goals. Collaborates with pharmacy leaders on inventory management, safety and optimization efforts ensuring compliance with various regulatory bodies. The Pharmacy Automation Manager hires, trains and manages state licensed members of the automation department and is required to understand all pharmacy processes excluding Pharmacist’s duties. This position resolves difficult issues regarding fulfillment, medication stock and other matters that require sensitivity and speed.

  • Collaborate with facility Director(s) and Sr. Manager to achieve stated goals and accountabilities for automation personnel daily and throughout the year.

  • Responsible for maintaining the accountabilities of all automation technicians, ensuring that all AH policies and Rx Plus/Expedien Rx Pharmacy guidelines are being enforced appropriately.

  • Develop and report individual and departmental metrics and accountabilities monthly and

  • as requested, including pharmacy technician productivity, accuracy, and fulfillment turnaround time.

  • Responsible for in depth understanding of pharmacy’s services; articulates to staff to assure goals are met with increased safety and efficiency.

  • Lead staff to execute processes and procedures effectively, providing leadership and guidance on automation throughput to include packing and shipping medications, pharmacy processes and additional training as necessary.

  • Maintains solid vendor and customer relationships by conducting business interactions with speed, knowledge, and professionalism.

  • Responsible for the integrity of patient sensitive material included in prescription orders, ensuringno violation of patient protected health information (PHI) or payment card industry data (PCI). Works with Corporate Responsibility to ensure that staff receive ongoing training and certification of CORE requirements.

  • Schedules repairs and preventative maintenance of pharmacy automation equipment with vendor and ensures daily cleaning and maintenance to be performed by pharmacy staff is being done consistently. Works closely with AdventHealth IT and automation vendor on any issues requiring modified workflows or system testing.

  • Works with Operational and Clinical leaders to ensure that all medications and supplies are stocked in the correct location, according to medication name, type, manufacturer storage guidelines and dispensing pharmacy. Ensures all prescription orders are completed in accordance to filling and packing processes and any expired or damaged inventory is removed and placed in quarantine.

  • Schedules and monitors routine inventory cycle counts, including medications filled by automation and in manual pick zones. Routinely validates the performance of the automation system, checking canisters for appropriate pill count and mechanical components.

  • Monitors performance and temperature of medication stock refrigeration equipment, ensuring appropriate alerts are sent to operational and clinical leaders as needed, jumping to action to ensure integrity of medication stock, moving inventory as needed. Additionally, monitors pharmacy humidity devices and alerts clinical leaders of any issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business, Informatics or-related field required

  • 4 years’ experience as a pharmacy technician in retail, specialty, central fill or mail-order pharmacy.

  • 1 year of leadership experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Previous experience with a pharmacy automation system for centralized fulfillment.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration.

  • A current National Pharmacy Technician Certification, CPhT; must complete national required continuing education requirement for certification.
