Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with Senior Controls Engineer.
  • Responsible for preparing engineering to include:
    • System design
    • PLC programming
    • HMI programming
    • Control panel design and detail
    • Hardware selection
    • Bill of materials creation
  • Responsible for system I/O check, debug and startup at Autotec.
  • Responsible for leading and participating in problem solving activities.
  • Interact with other departments, suppliers and customers to obtain pertinent information.
  • Works closely with senior mechanical setup technician to ensure that the machine functionality is complete and approved at Autotec before shipping.
  • Coordinates, documents, and files all history associated with a specific job.
  • Reviews project quote and scope and calls attention to ideas and concepts.
  • Perform sales and engineering visits when required.
  • Creates costing estimate spread sheets when required to assist sales.
  • Reviews engineering to make certain Autotec and customer machine expectations are met.
  • Assistance on the shop floor at Autotec as well as in the field service will be required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 3 – 5 years of applicable experience
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organize and facilitate team meetings.
  • Working understanding of Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Allen Bradley Controllogix, and Allen Bradley Panel View software.
  • Understanding of product development.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and must be able to interface directly with other engineers.
  • Experience using Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Allen Bradley Controllogix, and Allen Bradley Panel View software.
  • Familiarity with other commercial and industrial control systems.
  • Willing and able to travel to customer locations, some international travel.  25% travel. 
Key Performance Goals:
  • Complete design within scheduled time frame.
  • Show technical expertise with control panels, HMI screens, HMI programs, PLC programs and Project files.
  • Meet customer scope objectives.
  • Complete design within budget hours.
