Job Description: EDUCATION Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE CRCST-Certified Registered Central Service Technician Upon Hire OR CBSPD Upon Hire PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN: Five years related hospital experience and/or demonstration of competency required that would result in a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of medical supplies, procedure trays, universal precautions, and sterilization techniques. Additionally, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to be a resource to Sterile Processing Tech I staff by effectively training new employees, answering questions appropriately, providing accurate and complete information regarding departmental procedures and demonstrating good communication skills. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Extensive knowledge of microbiology, principals of sterilization in a medical environment and Universal Precautions required; Basic computer skills desirable. Must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and handle multiple tasks while remaining calm and focused. Must be able to train others, and act as a resource to Sterile Processing Technicians in matters of product knowledge and sterilization techniques. Must be detail oriented. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to maintain accurate records. Must be able to listen, communicate effectively, and work closely with others in a team setting.
