Clinical Nursing Specialist

Position Summary:
- Directly provide care to patients across different ages
- Lead other staff members through clinical guidance
- Maintain a positive work environment that upholds quality patient care
- Ensure compliance with protocols established by the department and the Hospitals
- Tasks include working with situations that involve neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups
Responsibilities:
- Always work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
- Provide a comfortable and therapeutic environment according to Hospital standards
- Identify, report and, correct environmental issues
- Work in collaboration with the healthcare team, implement and document individualized care plans considering age specific considerations, including discharge planning and patient/family teaching
- Administer medication, including IV medication, document and communicate clinical findings
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensure the proper consent has been obtained
- Institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
- Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients
- Ensure that patient medical records contain necessary information
- Answer telephones and triage calls according to departmental policy
- Participate in orientation
- Upon successfully completing preceptor training, assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel
- Encourage patient participation in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don’t understand or may be ambiguous
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Education: Program Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing graduate
- Experience: 2 years of directly related experience
- Credentials: RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM; CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
- Physical Condition: Heavy Work (exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally)
- Working Conditions: Sig Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials req PPE
