Pipefitting requires the use of metric and standard measuring devices, basic math and reading in their daily tasking. Skill and safety training will be provided to all candidates. Pipefitters will be required to work either day or night (various shifts) dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Shipyard production areas involve working at different heights, confined spaces, all weather conditions. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations.
