Job Description

Instrumentation Coordinator is responsible for the instrumentation and troubleshooting of a highly automated state of the art system that produces distinctive high-quality ingredients and solutions to the food, beverage, and other industries.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Plan, layout, and supervise diversified installation, maintenance, and repair operations in their respective area of responsibility to maintain the physical plant, machinery, equipment, and auxiliaries in proper operating condition.
  • Utilize drawings, P&IDs, sketches, diagrams, and manuals to procure parts and plan work orders to implement maintenance activities.
  • Supervise the troubleshooting, adjustment, installation or repair physical assets included but not limited to: discrete & analog control valves, HART communicators, motor control circuits, 4-20mA instrumentation control loops, transmitters (level, pressure, flow, temp, etc.), Allen Bradley ContolLogix systems, Allen Bradley Powerflex VFD's, Allen Bradley SMC Flex Soft Start motor controllers' instrumentation, PLC logic, etc.
  • Ensure the proper training and use of measuring and testing equipment of the Instrumentation Techs.
  • Provide instructions to the oncoming team through verbal and written communication (Game Plan).
  • Safely perform all required duties. Includes but not limited to, performing safety audits, monthly training topics, and daily safety messages.
  • Maintain a clean work environment per established Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Required to learn all aspects of Technical Process Operation via a progressive training program and demonstrate proficiency.
  • Train & coordinate additional training for Instrumentation Techs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Lead daily safety toolbox talks, promote safe work practices, and foster a strong safety culture
  • Plan and actively communicate daily maintenance functions and shutdown work flow
  • Assign labor for planned and breakdown repairs; schedule overtime as needed
  • Required to requisition material, labor, and tools as needed while maintaining budget
  • Manage contractor and vendor resources as required
  • Be available for after-hours breakdown calls
  • Provide daily communications with a wide range of plant personnel.
  • Partner with Reliability team to continually move towards proactive maintenance work
  • Work in and maintain the SAP maintenance work order system
Other duties as assigned by departmental manager.

Competencies, Skills and experience required :

Graphic Literacy-Workplace graphics such as tables, graphs, charts, digital dashboards, flow charts, timelines, forms, maps, and blueprints. Employees use this skill when they find, summarize, compare, and analyze information to make decisions using workplace graphics to solve work-related problems.

Teamwork is the skill people use for choosing behaviors and actions that both lead toward the accomplishment of work tasks and support the relationships between team members. A team is defined as any workplace group with a common goal and ownership of shared responsibility in achieving that goal.

Workplace Observation is the skill employees use in visually observing a workplace event, noticing details, and remembering instructions, procedures, processes, and demonstrations in order to generalize to workplace situations that may be similar or very different from what was observed.

Applied Technology is the skill of working with machines and equipment means understanding how best to use them to solve problems. The applied technology requires basic principles in four areas of technology, electricity, mechanics, fluid dynamics, and thermodynamics. With a focus on reasoning, not math, solve problems without calculations or formulas.

Skills and experiences required.

Required skills and experience:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or the equivalent
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and Outlook e-mail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively written and verbal comprehension
  • 5 years industrial maintenance (Instrumentation) experience
  • Prior supervision experience
  • Experience working on instrumentation, valves, PLC's, VFD's, & troubleshooting issues
  • Must be well-organized, attentive to detail, and efficient.
  • Able to demonstrate competencies in graphic literacy, teamwork, workplace observations, locating information, and applied technology.
Desired skills:
  • Familiarity with SAP maintenance database
  • Experience with facilities maintenance, preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, preferred.
  • 3+ years of chemical or industrial manufacturing experience preferred.

Knowledge of valves, transmitters, instrumentation, PLC's, VFD's, etc preferred
