Environmental Test Lab Technician

As an Environmental Test Lab Technician, you will perform testing operations and ensure the highest standards of quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental test with emphasis on vibration, shock, and thermal testing. These traits will provide the footing to help ABL validate components for flight. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program and operate thermal chambers to simulate environments and run tests
- Program and operate electro-dynamic test shakers to simulate environments and run tests
- Operate and tune shock systems to analyze transient events representative of environments
- Perform tests with high pressure and cryogenic fluids
- Work with engineering to troubleshoot hardware and test discrepancies
- Maintain lab cleanliness, improve efficiency, and work on 5S improvement projects
- Responsible for preventative maintenance of lab equipment
- Use of mechanical hand tools and torque wrenches to setup test fixtures
- 3+ years of experience in environmental testing or similar discipline
- Understanding of vibration, shock, and thermal testing
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- 3+ years of experience in test development or manufacturing/production environment
- Experience running thermal testing
- Experience running vibration and shock testing
- Experience running high pressure testing
- Experience running using cryogenic fluids
- Experience in space, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operating environments
- Critical thinking: ABL technicians understand the “why” behind all design decisions, operational events and test outcomes
- Ability to deal with ambiguity: ABL technicians must be comfortable defining their own pathway to an objective
- End-to end ownership: Projects are delivered fully complete and ready for flight
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
- Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
- Must be able to work overtime and /or weekends as needed
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
The hourly rate for this role is $30.4 - $45.6. This is the lowest to highest hourly rate we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the hourly range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
