Purpose

The Resettlement Case Manager will provide resettlement case management services for newly arriving refugees and Matching Grant (MG) clients within CWS-Lancaster. This position assists clients in accessing services and navigating local systems during the resettlement period. The position offers support and services to clients to help them reach self-sufficiency and successfully make a new home in the United States.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties as Refugee Resettlement Case Manager
  • Manages the resettlement of clients by ensuring timely delivery of services and fulfillment of requirements outlined in the Cooperative Agreement and Guidelines with Department of State (R&P), and the guidelines within the Office of Refugee Resettlement (MG). This includes, but is not limited to conducting airport pickups, facilitating school enrollment and placing County Assistance benefit applications, coordinating with fellow team members and community volunteers regularly regarding the provision of these and other services.
  • Develops and implements Resettlement and Matching Grant Service Plans in consultation with clients, based on individual strengths, challenges and needs.
  • Maintain detailed and thorough client case files and case notes. Track all program activities, contributing to required program reports in a timely manner.
  • When necessary, coordinate with interpreters and community service providers to provide linguistically and culturally competent services and education, advocating for clients when necessary.
  • Provide program updates and highlights to fellow team members and supervisor during check-ins and staff meetings. Coordinate across other in-house programs regarding dual enrollment and support activities.
  • Provide training support and assign daily tasks to program interns assigned to the resettlement program.
  • Advocate for client needs, collaborating with volunteers and community partners, to address needs and barriers to service provision.
  • Performs periodic home visits and provides in-home orientation to clients. Provide remote case management support as applicable.
  • Connects clients to in-house support and makes referrals to external service providers as necessary to assist clients in achieving self-sufficiency. Schedules appointments, including medical and clothing bank, among others.
  • Provides interpretation and translation services to refugee clients, as well as transportation to appointments as necessary. Coordinate with volunteers and support teams who are assisting in this area as well, as applicable.
  • Tracks client progress and provides follow-up assistance throughout the resettlement and Matching Grant enrollment period.
  • Prepares and documents weekly financial requests and distributes disbursements.
  • Ensures accuracy and compliance within case files of the Cooperative Agreements and Guidelines with the US Department of State and the US Department of Homeland Security and the guidelines within the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
  • Assists the Resettlement Supervisor in any duties she deems necessary.
Common Duties:
  • Advocate on behalf of refugees and immigrants and voluntary agencies serving those clients.
  • Keep informed about refugee and immigrant issues, and available services to clients, using current information to better identify and serve refugee clients.
  • Represent the program at meetings and speaking engagements relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.
  • Work varied hours.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or two years of college with two years' work experience in refugee resettlement.

Experience: Previous work experience and interest in refugee resettlement or other direct social services. Ability to provide culturally sensitive counseling and case management is required.

Other Skills:

Fluency in English is required, with superior written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Dari, Farsi, Pashto, Arabic, Somali, Swahili, Haitian Creole, Spanish Russian and Ukrainian are highly preferred. The successful candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, and Word) and Internet applications. Own car and a valid driver's license with a clean driving history is highly preferred.

Special Requirements
  • The successful candidate must have a car, a valid driver's license, and an insurable driving record.
  • This is an in-person position.
  • Works varied hours, including possible night and weekend work.
