About the Role

Church World Service is seeking a skilled Housing Specialist to join our team in Lancaster, PA. As a key member of our housing team, you will play a critical role in supporting the resettlement of refugees and asylum seekers by providing essential housing services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide housing navigation and support to eligible clients, promoting self-sufficiency and sustained learning.
  • Manage the donation hub, coordinating the receipt, storage, and distribution of donated goods to meet the needs of our clients.
  • Collaborate with other CWS teams and programs to ensure the effective distribution of donated goods and resources.
  • Coordinate with landlords and tenants to resolve housing-related issues and ensure timely housing set-ups.
  • Assist with compiling financial transactions and documentation for reporting purposes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community resources, information, and social services to support clients' housing needs.
  • Provide program updates and highlights to team members during check-ins and staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in refugee resettlement or direct social services.
  • Two years' work experience in refugee resettlement or direct social services, with a background in housing resources, case management, or human service delivery.
  • Superior English written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in a refugee language preferred.
  • Computer literacy, with proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Access) and internet applications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to lift furniture and other household items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel frequently and independently throughout the relevant region.

Special Requirements

  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check and a Child Abuse/Neglect check.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with an insurable record.
