We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to join our growing team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, optimization, and security of our DB2 database environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation, high availability, and performance of our databases, supporting critical business applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain IBM Directory Server for user authentication and access control.
  • Plan, execute, and validate the migration of DB2 databases from version 10.5 to 11.5, including successful fix pack installation.
  • Design and implement DRDA (Distributed Relational Database Architecture) federation for seamless data access across multiple databases.
  • Possess strong experience working with DB2 on both AIX and Linux platforms.
  • Design and implement DB2 replication solutions for data synchronization across systems.
  • Configure and manage High Availability solutions, including HADR (High Availability Disaster Recovery) and HACMP (High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing).
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery procedures, including log shipping and HADR utilization for rapid recovery in case of outages.
  • Demonstrate experience in migrating databases between AIX and Linux environments.
  • Implement and manage DB2 auditing to ensure data security and compliance.
  • Possess experience with AWS Database Management for cloud-based database solutions (if applicable).
  • Utilize DB2 native tools and/or SolarWinds for comprehensive performance monitoring of database systems.
  • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and optimize SQL queries to enhance database efficiency.
  • Configure and maintain schemas, tablespaces, tables, indexes, buffer pools, and logs for optimal database performance.
  • Implement production changes effectively through ServiceNow or similar ticketing system.
  • Be available for evening and weekend maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption during peak business hours.
  • Must be able to obtain or hold a Public Trust security clearance (if applicable).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a DB2 Database Administrator.
  • Proven experience with DB2 10.5 and 11.5 administration on AIX and Linux platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of DRDA federation design and implementation.
  • Experience with DB2 replication solutions (e.g., HADR, QDMS).
  • Solid understanding of High Availability (HA) concepts and implementation.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution for databases.
  • Experience migrating databases between AIX and Linux environments (a plus).
  • Experience with DB2 auditing and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with AWS Database Management (a plus).
  • Proficiency with DB2 native tools and/or performance monitoring tools like SolarWinds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting performance issues.
  • Excellent understanding of SQL optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database schema design and optimization.
  • Experience with IT service management systems like ServiceNow (a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal, skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
