SUMMARY:
The Business Lending Relationship Manager is responsible for developing and managing relationships with business members, providing tailored lending solutions that meet their financial needs. This role involves assessing the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, facilitating the loan application process, and ensuring compliance with lending regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of business lending products, operational and administrative processes, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional member service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Relationship Management:
- Build new and maintain existing relationships with business members to understand their financial needs and goals.
- Act as a primary point of contact for business lending inquiries and an assigned portfolio.
- Analyze and evaluate loan applications, financial statements, and credit reports to determine creditworthiness and risk. Must have underwriting skills and be able to work a detailed cash flow analysis both for project and global.
- Structure loan proposals, convey opportunities in detail and present them approval.
- Work with both outside and internal underwriting personnel.
- Stay informed about business lending products, market trends, and competitive offerings.
- Educate members on available lending and deposit options, terms, and conditions.
- Ensure all lending activities comply with credit union policies, procedures, processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct and obtain due diligence and risk assessments for potential borrowers.
- Identify and pursue new business lending opportunities through networking, referrals, and community involvement. 70% of production should come from self-sourced activities.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance member experience and promote cross-selling opportunities.
- Provide exceptional service to business members throughout the lending process, addressing any questions or concerns promptly.
- Follow up with members after loan closing to ensure satisfaction and encourage retention.
- Understand that job responsibilities are subject to change or modification at any time by management to adapt to the evolving needs of the credit union and its members.
- Must meet lending sales goals and deposit goals. Goals are both annual and quarterly.
- Goals and objectives may be reviewed and adjusted annually to align with the evolving priorities of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in business lending or commercial banking.
- Strong understanding of credit analysis, financial statements, underwriting and business operations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-centric approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in lending software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Adhere to organizational structure and reporting lines to ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team.
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for long periods at a time.
- Regularly required to talk or listen.
- Occasional lifting of office supplies up to 20 lbs.
- Vision abilities including close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- Must understand and follow a set of clear oral and/or written procedures without deviation.
- Performs repetitive routine tasks.
- Withstand moderate amounts of stress.
- Must relay information orally.
