Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Population Health, the Early Childhood Development Specialist will work as a part of the Population Health Team, Clinical Team, and Community to improve developmental outcomes by increasing developmental screenings and access to appropriate follow-up services. The Early Childhood Development Specialist will work closely with the pediatric clinical staff and school-based health care staff to support the learning, development, health and wellbeing of young children, including babies and toddlers, and their parent and/or caregiver.
Primary responsibilities include providing support services for children from birth to five years of age, perform and discuss developmental, environmental, and socioeconomic screenings that are designed to assess children, parents and/or caregivers, and their environment. You will also evaluate and monitor children to determine physical and mental development, including social, motor development, self-help, cognitive and language skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in child development or related field preferred. Knowledge of early learning environments and standards for children birth to five years of age. Knowledge of child observation techniques, screening, assessment and documentation. Ability to train adults to enhance the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of young children.
