Public Health Systems Coordinator

The Department of Health Services (DHS) , Division of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for a Systems Coordinator within the Office of Policy and Practice Alignment (OPPA).
This position offers the option to work remotely up to 5 days per week and is headquartered in the 1 W. Wilson Street office in downtown Madison. This schedule may vary based on training or operational need. This position requires approximately 5% travel throughout the state for conferences and meetings. This position will work Monday through Friday, daytime hours.

Position Summary
As the Systems Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing support to OPPA and public health system partners through project management, quality improvement, knowledge and asset management as well as serving on OPPA teams such as the OPPA workforce development team and teams supporting implementation of the OPPA Strategic Plan.
OPPA enacts many of the core responsibilities associated with public health workforce-related statutory directives. This includes maintaining the public health system in cooperation with health departments, community organizations, and medical clinics, as well as guiding division initiatives toward reducing health disparities, including assuring a high-functioning pipeline for a culturally competent health workforce. The Systems Coordinator will also contribute to Office and Division initiatives by serving on OPPA teams such as the OPPA workforce development team and teams supporting implementation of the OPPA Strategic Plan. Additional duties include:
- Serving as the DPH TRAIN Coordinator,
- Creating workforce and other public health system content in iSpring platform to place on Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Leading system quality improvement projects for OPPA websites and tracking systems.
- Supporting the implementation of performance management and performance excellent initiatives.
- Implementing customer service strategies toward system wide improvement in alignment with both DPH Strategic Plan and OPPA Strategic Plan.
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $29.00 to $35.00 per hour (approximately $60,300 to $72,800 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former employees is based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Community Services Specialist Senior and is in pay schedule and range is 07/03.
Job Details
All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
For positions that allow remote working flexibility, working outside of Wisconsin or in bordering cities will not be allowed except in extremely limited circumstances due to the need to report to an office location in Wisconsin on short notice.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for remote work option. Mileage reimbursement to the employee's headquarter location is not provided. Remote work flexibility will be discussed in more detail during the interview process.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:
- Experience planning, implementing, and managing projects and processes including tracking the progress of a project and providing updates on project status.
- Experience with change management and quality improvement principles.
- Experience working with a variety of statewide, regional and local agencies, organizations, or community groups, including local or Tribal health departments.
- Experience coordinating initiatives that support the implementation of the Foundational Public Health Services model including providing education, training, and outreach activities.
- Experience with project management tools and other software such as iSpring, Cornerstone, Drupal, SharePoint, TRAIN, etc.
- Experience providing technical assistance, training, or orientation on public health initiatives to internal and external partners.
- Experience with State of Wisconsin agency fiscal systems or experience providing fiscal support to internal and external partners.
