Position: Superintendent (Ground-Up) SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION

Reports To: Director of Field Operations

Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
The Superintendent I is responsible for profitable field operations on projects ranging in size from small to large, including complex projects with minimal oversight. This role will establish the safety culture on the jobsite and work closely with the Project Management team to manage the schedule, budget, and staff to achieve profitable outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages and maintains project safety in accordance with Caliente Construction's Safety Policy and Procedure Manual
  • Understands how to best use teams and organizational systems to achieve business goals; draws all team members into active participation by designing an effective infrastructure, developing and communicating a shared vision of each project, and by setting clear expectations.
  • Monitors job costing, quality of work performed, quantity reporting, forecasting and productivity. Documents all delays, back charges, or other pertinent information.
  • Creates and maintains the overall project schedule; Prepares six-week look-ahead schedules and reviews with subcontractors and project stakeholders throughout the duration of each assigned project
  • Initiates changes to keep the project on schedule and informs the assigned Project Manager of any conditions that may affect the scheduled delivery dates for materials
  • Creates plans for self-performed work and manages self-performed resources, materials and equipment
  • Ensures all required paperwork, including, but not limited to, daily logs, diaries, communication records, phone conversations, timecards are complete, accurate, and filed in a timely manner utilizing the proper Company- approved standards
  • Identifies and resolves problems and conflicts, organizes meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary
  • Ensures field administration completes daily time reports, quantity reports, purchases, and job logs
  • Maintains and enhances a professional working relationship with all project stakeholders while maximizing revenue and profitability goals
  • Mentors junior team members in all aspects of assigned projects and construction best-known methods (BKM)
  • Other duties, as assigned
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A high-school diploma or equivalent is required. Industry related college degree is preferred with at least four (4) years of job-specific superintendent experience or comparable construction experience, preferred
  • Proficient with software applications (MS Office/Bluebeam/Procore/Vista/Powerproject, other)
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret construction documents with intermediate knowledge of construction methods and materials
  • Knowledge of Building Codes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented, efficient, and reliable
  • Team player with the ability to recognize how individual actions affect the team as a whole
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, flexible and adaptable to changes to planned tasks or schedule
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to maintain a positive leadership position
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week or more, as required to meet project schedule
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • May require repetitive use of arms, hands, and, fingers
  • May require prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing throughout workday
  • Willing to travel to various job site and/or employee recruitment and work locations
  • Valid driver license and proof of insurability required when job duties require use of motor vehicle
  • Requires exercising discretion in decision making and maintaining strict confidentiality with respect to applicant, employee, and, Company proprietary information.
