Maintenance Manager – Houston Box Plant

As a Maintenance Manager you will oversee all the facility’s maintenance functions, developing and implementing preventative and predictive maintenance and improvement programs. You are responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems; both mechanical and electrical. The Maintenance Manager recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability, yield, and will need to prepare technical reports to document equipment modifications and write equipment maintenance procedures. You must display leadership as well as planning and project management skills. The possession of strong organizational skills is a necessary component to this position. This Maintenance Manager will support our Houston location.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Safety Oversight: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the use of PPE, and maintain safety features and guards on equipment.
  • Maintenance Management: Oversee the proper functioning of equipment and fixtures. Develop and manage a preventive maintenance calendar to minimize downtime.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians across three shifts. Coordinate scheduling, training, and performance management to ensure consistent and effective maintenance operations.
  • Vendor and Resource Management: Source and procure parts and equipment. Manage relationships with outside contractors such as electricians, technicians, and other skilled trades.
  • Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate manuals and drawings for equipment and facilities. Communicate effectively with management regarding conflicts, resource shortages, or significant expenditures.
  • Operational Support: Prioritize maintenance tasks to prevent any negative impact on operations and support all areas of the facility.
  • Housekeeping and Improvement: Ensure continuous cleanliness and safety of the workplace. Identify and suggest improvements to cycle time, error reduction, and cost efficiency.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager.
What it takes:
  • Education: High School diploma required; additional technical courses or college education is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years in a maintenance management role within a production facility. Experience in the corrugated industry is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in industrial building and machinery maintenance, including power transmission, HVAC, electrical systems, PLCs, carpentry, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronics.
  • Attributes: Strong supervisory skills with experience managing teams across multiple shifts, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
