Position Summary: The Director of Data Architecture and Engineering is a hands-on technical leader who will lead the data engineering and architecture functions within the ITS Data and Digital department. The Director will be responsible for delivering enterprise curated data solutions that enable Hartford Healthcare’s enterprise-wide data and AI platform (H2D2) to drive business value and customer success. The Director will build, mentor, and lead a team of data engineers, architects and ETL developers who will develop analytical data solutions (On premises and Cloud) to help drive operations, clinical care, research, and human experience and lead the organizational development and implementation of data ingestion, data transformation, data management, data quality, and data lineage strategies. Key Accountabilities: * Develop, implement and continuously enhance a Digital Data Lake-house that ingests data from multiple sources to create a unified system for unstructured, semi-structured, and structured data * Design, develop, construct, test, and maintain Data Lake-house pipelines, architectures, and large-scale data processing systems that accelerate HHC’s data and digital strategies * Build, lead, mentor, upskill and guide data engineers, architects and ETL developers by leading code reviews, documenting and implementing best practices * Partner with integrated platform (ITS infrastructure and operations) and data teams (data governance, interoperability, reporting, research informatics, data science, analytics etc.) to define integrated solutions that meet the evolving needs of data analysts, developers and consumers (e.g. data ingestion framework, AI/ML capabilities, scalable compute), contributing to the innovation and leadership of the data organization * Develop and implement a documentation strategy that creates, maintains, and publishes data dictionaries, entity diagrams, relational/schema diagrams, technical documentation, runbooks, and standards * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related quantitative field is required * Five plus years leading high functioning and productive data engineering and/or data architecture teams * Seven plus years of hands-on experience in data software development including applications running on premise and/or cloud environments (GCP, AWS or Azure) * Five plus years of experience in data software development that includes building data and digital platforms for batch or streaming ingestion, processing the data for analytics, and storing the data in various stages * Seven plus years of experience with specialized data architecture (e.g., data lake, lake house, data fabric, data mesh) * Extensive experience using ETL tools (Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Google Cloud Dataflow, informatica power center, Oracle Data Integrator. ETC) * Extensive experience with multiple programming languages (Python, C/C , SQL etc.) * Extensive experience in ETL design and data modeling implementation, and maintenance * Proactive and self-motivated with a passion for continuous learning and staying updated with best practices, new features, and emerging technologies * Highly effective analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills * Strong communications skills required - both written and verbal We take great care of careers.
