Overview:

The Regulatory Readiness Specialist is responsible for the management, coordination, and integration of regulatory functions throughout the program to ensure full and constant compliance with regulatory requirements including Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). This role involves developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives, interfacing with various stakeholders, and providing leadership and expertise in quality management. The Regulatory Readiness Specialist is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of accreditation ensuring compliance with infection control standards and representing patients' interests.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Regulatory Readiness Specialist is responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide oversight, direction, and coordination for constant survey readiness and compliance with regulatory agencies, monitor licensing and other document renewal for the program.
  • Lead organization-wide accreditation and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Support workflow needs and develop content experts and other accreditation and regulatory leaders to support workflow accordingly.
  • Serve as the expert and consultant for all regulatory standards, maintaining current knowledge for standards/requirements, changes, and updates.
  • Provide ongoing coordination of data and information necessary for accreditation and regulatory bodies including participating in data collection and providing education and support of the use of software programs utilized for documenting and communicating compliance and appropriate actions.
  • Facilitate the program's mock survey, participate in mock surveys and patient tracers according to regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports on key regulatory requirements, including maintaining a dashboard on key performance metrics.
  • Serve as liaison between accreditation / regulatory bodies and the organization.
  • Manage onsite accreditation and regulatory surveys, including triaging presentation of surveyors and directing survey command center activities. Manage communications, agendas, and logistics for onsite survey activities.
  • Act as Infection Control Nurse leading the infection control program including aseptic practices and Bloodborne Pathogens regulations.
  • Act as Patient Representative.
Qualifications: The following skills or experience are highly valued, but not required, to perform the essential functions of this position.
  1. Prior experience with regulatory or accreditation standards. Prior experience with health care compliance, regulatory activities, and project management preferred.
  2. 3 years of recent experience in a health care industry.
Education / Training:
  1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) (or currently enrolled in a BSN Program) and licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Washington,
  2. Valid, unrestricted Washington State nurse license.
  3. Obtain APIC Infection Control training, to be completed within 90 days of hire.
Knowledge / Skills/Abilities:
  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  2. Project manage large organization-wide initiatives.
  3. Problem solve and make decisions.
  4. Interpret legal and regulatory documents.
  5. Critical thinking to assess appropriate documentation sharing and communication with surveyors.
  6. Demonstrated capabilities with Windows based software applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and database. Requires some experience with data analysis and display.
  7. Ability to be flexible, organized, and function under stressful situations.
  8. Ability to work with multi-disciplined groups or individuals.
  9. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational offerings, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional nursing organizations.

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, sit or stand for extended periods of time; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear; have sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone and other such office equipment as necessary; may occasionally move and/or lift up to 25 pounds or more with assistance. Specific visual abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment: Work will mainly be performed at the Occupational Health Services Clinic and will involve frequent contact with other company and project employees, customers, clients, representatives and vendors; may come in contact with patient body fluids; potential for puncture wounds from sharps; work may be stressful at times; interaction with others is frequent and may be interruptive; may occasionally work hours outside of typical work schedule to accommodate needs; opportunities for local travel may occur; the noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

Mental limitations: Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people and able to answer questions and provide guidance in a professional and friendly manner.

Must be U.S. Citizenship or National and have ability to successfully obtain necessary security clearance.
