Hazards Management Specialist

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is a world-class research institution seeking an expert to provide regulatory interpretation, technical expertise, and compliance guidance for hazardous materials transportation and packaging. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of domestic and international regulations, including DOT, IAEA, ICAO/IATA, IMDG, TDG, ADR, and State-specific enforcement.
This position requires a skilled professional with excellent communication and project management skills. The successful candidate will work closely with the team to ensure PNNL's shipping of hazardous materials is conducted safely, consistently, and in compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
The estimated annual salary for this position is $194,250. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procedures, special permit applications, training, and presentations in support of Laboratory hazardous material transportation and packaging activities.
- Participate in internal and external program assessments or audits and develop corrective actions.
- Classify and document required compliance reporting of abnormal events.
- Maintain program documentation in accordance with DOE Orders and internal quality standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA and 9 years of relevant experience OR MS/MA or higher and 7 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Domestic and international hazardous material/waste shipping regulations, DOE site operations, and ability to interpret and communicate regulatory requirements.
