You may also view the full position description on the Agency intranet at the following link: PD Search As head of Operational Support, serves as principal advisor and staff director to the Assistant Regional Commissioner, Processing Center Operations (ARC PCO) responsible for the analysis of Program Service Center (PSC) operations and leadership in the development and application of policies and operational procedures for the entire PSC. Performs a national role in integrating PSC programs, policy and operations. Has national responsibility for at least one lead assignment covering all six PSCs. Performs a key role in improving productivity and operations in the PSC. Continually appraises the effectiveness and uniform application of operational policies, workflow and procedures in the Process Branches and other operating units of the PSC. Provides leadership and, through subordinate supervisors and team leaders, gives direction to the Operations Analysis Section, the Computer Operations Section and other assigned units. Examples of specialized experience include developing, examining, investigating, adjudicating or authorizing claims for retirement, survivors insurance, disability insurance, pension claims or other related programmatic or managerial experience; developing and/or overseeing the development of written instructions or policies pertaining to SSA PSC or field program issues; supervising or leading SSA nonsupervisory professional staff; planning, organizing, and monitoring a workload or project; making oral presentations to a variety of groups and individuals. First time supervisors/managers are required to serve a one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period. Time served in this temporary position may be credited toward meeting the supervisory/managerial probationary period. This position is eligible for telework. Travel expenses for temporary assignments will be paid as appropriate according to applicable travel rules and/or regulations. This is a (5/5c) high risk. The selected employee will be required to complete a Standard Form 85p, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions, in order to have the appropriate investigation conducted, unless the employee has been previously certified eligible to occupy a position at this level.
