Job Title: Field Safety Auditor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Field Safety Auditor to join our growing team. The Field Safety Auditor is responsible for assessing and ensuring that all work sites comply with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices. This role requires a keen eye for identifying potential hazards, a commitment to promoting a safe working environment, and the ability to provide actionable recommendations to mitigate risks on construction sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Field Safety Audits: Perform regular safety inspections and audits on active construction sites, evaluating all areas for compliance with safety standards, including OSHA, company policies, and other relevant regulations.
  2. Identify Hazards and Risks: Identify and document potential safety hazards, unsafe practices, and areas of non-compliance. Collaborate with site managers and employees to address and rectify any safety concerns.
  3. Develop and Implement Safety Protocols: Provide input on site-specific safety procedures, emergency response plans, and hazard control methods. Recommend adjustments to existing safety protocols based on audit findings and industry updates.
  4. Report and Document Findings: Prepare comprehensive audit reports, detailing safety violations, potential hazards, corrective actions, and recommendations. Present findings to project managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
  5. Conduct Safety Training: Facilitate safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and refreshers to ensure all personnel are aware of and understand safe working practices and regulatory requirements.
  6. Stay Updated on Industry Standards: Keep abreast of OSHA updates, industry best practices, and emerging safety concerns. Attend relevant workshops, seminars, and courses to maintain and improve knowledge of field safety standards.
  7. Incident Investigation and Reporting: In case of an incident or near-miss, conduct thorough investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Provide detailed reports for management review and continuous improvement.
  8. Collaborate with Site Teams: Work closely with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members to foster a proactive approach to safety and ensure safety policies are consistently applied across all sites.


Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a construction safety role or similar field; experience as a field safety auditor is REQUIRED.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30-hour or OSHA 510 certification required; other relevant certifications such as CSP, CHST, or ASP are a plus.
  • Education: High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, general industry and construction standards, and best practices for field safety in construction environments.
  • Skills: Excellent observation, analytical, and communication skills. Proficiency in report writing, documentation, and basic computer applications. Experience in Word, Access, excel, and internet search options. Proficient in report writing.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to navigate and inspect large construction sites and work in various weather conditions. Climb ladders to 100ft off ground; walk up and down uneven ground surfaces; drive long distances to job sites.
Travel:
  • 80-90% of time in Western USA.
