The Technical Specialist will lead all aspects of new electro-mechanical pump products. This role will be accountable for developing motor, PCBA control systems, embedded software, mechanical pumping elements and interfacing with customers to grow business in North America and Europe.

This is a critical position that will work closely with a team of sales, purchasing, product development, manufacturing, quality assurance and shop floor production teams to assure a cohesive and cost-effective approach to high quality design developments and successful new product and product modifications.

The ideal candidate will have launched several programs from RFQ phase to production through SOP. They will have had full hands-on experience in CFD, FEA, should cost modeling, new supplier development, PCBA design, thermal modeling, motor simulation, embedded code generation, AUTOSAR, ASPICE, cyber security, LIN and CAN communications, software development traceability, IP generation. Additionally, program management experience would be a plus. This also requires experience across the lifecycle of automotive electrical component development, and a strong skillset in the testing phase of product development, focused on test rig creation, DVP&R development and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities:

· Use experience with Electromagnetic design concepts, apply theoretical and practical skills in electromagnetic motor control design and mechatronic development as implemented as a sub-system to a full mechatronic product

· Use experience with PCBA design concepts, apply theoretical and practical skills in PCBA design and development as implemented as a sub-system to a full mechatronic product

· Use experience with embedded code design concepts, apply theoretical and practical skills in embedded code generation as implemented as a sub-system to a full mechatronic product

· Use experience with hydraulic pump design concepts, apply theoretical and practical skills in hydraulic pump design as a sub-system to a full mechatronic product

· Use experience with BIC costing, apply theoretical and practical skills in design and simulation to achieve best cost design

· Develop, maintain and upgrade testing equipment for design verification and validation for electro-mechanical products

· Generation of products from a customer SOR

· Complete design specifications, verification test plans and document design changes

· Communicate with peers and supervisors including documentation of work, meetings and decisions

· Interface with new product development project teams to transition products into production

· Provide input to global team to support projects and best practices

· Support compliance to regulatory requirements including electromagnetic interference/electromagnetic compatibility (EMI/EMC), Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and RoHS standards

· Participate in the selection of vendors and fabrication of sources in accordance with quality and compliance to released specifications

· Develop designs using documented best practices to meet all performance metrics

· Analyze data from designs of working prototypes interpreting data from digital data acquisition systems and signal processing equipment to make needed adjustments to improve performance or other attributes about the design

Requirements:

· A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of experience; or a Master of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 10 years of experience

· Experience with permanent magnet motors

· Experience with testing software TI, Python, HIL and SIL, etc.

· Experience with embedded code generation

· Experience in using circuit design software, such as AD, Candence, Multisim, etc.

· Experience of electromagnetic analysis software such as HSSF, SIwave, Maxwell, etc.

· Understanding of best practice circuit protection

· SME with the development process of automotive electronic hardware systems, software, and especially the development experience of automotive smart motor controllers

· Expert in automotive communication networks, such as CAN bus, LIN bus, ISO14229, ISO15765, SAEJ1939, etc.

· Can independently analyze and diagnose problems

· SME in AUTOSAR, Auto-SPICE, IATF16949 process, ISO26262 functional safety and cyber security

· Strong theoretical and practical skills

· Ability to design and specify advanced motor test equipment/procedures

· Good oral and written communication skills – able to speak fluent English

· Capable of interfacing with internal/external customers related to design work completed

· Ability to translate customer requirements and E-M principles into product design

· Ability to summarize/analyze data, issue reports on design work completed

· Contribute to innovated designs and high-performance functionality

· Desire to work in a team environment

· Ability to self-start and produce results
