To continue our growth trajectory and enhance our financial operations, we are seeking a Director of Finance. This role is crucial for establishing a robust financial foundation, optimizing our financial processes, and driving strategic financial initiatives. The Director of Finance will play a key role in guiding our firm towards achieving its ambitious revenue targets and ensuring long-term financial health.

As the Director of Finance, you will play a crucial role in shaping the financial future of our firm. You will be responsible for driving financial strategy, managing financial operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Your leadership will be vital in achieving our ambitious growth targets and optimizing our financial processes.

What You'll Do:
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies aligned with the firm's goals. Lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes. Identify and implement strategies to increase revenue, optimize key financial metrics, and achieve significant revenue growth targets. The firm is currently at eight figures, and the goal is to triple the revenue.
  • Build the Firm's Financial System: Develop the firm's financial system from the ground up, including creating workflows, establishing goals, and developing a comprehensive budgeting system.
  • Develop KPIs and Metrics: Implement and maintain effective KPIs and metrics to measure financial performance. This includes developing financial KPIs for revenue-generating roles and billing for roles.
  • Create Tracking and Reporting Systems: Establish robust audit systems for tracking, reporting, measuring, and analyzing both finances and team performance. Ensure monthly reporting of performance-based compensation for all roles in the company to highlight performance metrics.
  • Analyze Financial Impact: Analyze each role's financial impact, determining the cost of each team member, including insurance, rent, salary, and any other resources. Assess the cost-benefit of each practice area.
  • Forecasting Revenue and Cash Flow: Develop and implement a system for predicting revenue, ensuring accurate forecasting for both contingency and billable hours-based revenue. Establish robust cash flow management processes and tracking.
  • Implement New CRM System: Evaluate the current use of Salesforce and, if necessary, recommend a new CRM system that is more user-friendly and efficient. Oversee the implementation of the new CRM system to ensure it meets the firm's needs and enhances overall operational efficiency.
  • Oversee Financial Operations: Oversee daily financial operations, including bookkeeping, invoicing, and reporting. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Implement robust cash flow management processes and tracking.
  • Lead the Finance Team: Manage and mentor the finance team, including outsourced bookkeepers and on-site staff. Foster a collaborative work environment and drive performance through effective leadership.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations. Lead successful financial audits and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local financial laws.
  • Leverage Technology and Innovation: Leverage technology and AI to drive financial growth and efficiency. Recommend and implement new financial systems and tools to enhance reporting and analytics.
  • Performance Metrics: The successful candidate will be evaluated based on their achievement of key performance indicators, which will include but not be limited to:
    • Annual revenue growth targets
    • Increase in profitability percentage
    • Any other KPIs that you and the leadership team plan to implement in the future to further evaluate performance and drive success in the role.
What We're Looking For:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; with a preference for candidates who possess additional certifications or qualifications such as an MBA or CPA
  • Experience: At least 6 years in a Director level role, with a proven track record of managing eight figures revenue, preferably in high-volume sectors such as software, technology, or legal services.
  • Key Achievements: Demonstrated success in strategic planning, financial forecasting, implementing financial strategies, and achieving significant revenue growth targets. Strong preference for individuals who have accomplished key initiatives such as optimizing finance workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy, securing significantly higher credit lines or funding to support business expansion, implementing cost-saving initiatives that have substantially reduced operational expenses, leading successful financial audits while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, etc.
  • Skills: Exceptional financial acumen, strategic insight, and the ability to lead a large, dynamic team. Strong leadership skills with a track record of fostering a collaborative work environment, and effectively managing change within an organization.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting, CRM, and time management software such as QuickBooks, Salesforce, Caret, and/or similar platforms is essential.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong knowledge of financial regulation and compliance. Expertise in ensuring the organization adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local financial laws and regulations. Experience in preparing for and leading successful financial audits. Ability to implement and maintain effective internal controls and compliance programs to safeguard the company's financial integrity.
  • Innovation: A leader who is adept at leveraging technology and AI to drive growth and efficiency, with experience in firm acquisitions and predictive analytics.
