The Opportunity

Fisher Phillips is an international labor and employment law firm, and we are hiring for an experienced Information Governance & Privacy Specialist to support governance and data privacy initiatives. With 600 attorneys in 40 offices, located in the United States and Mexico, our range of experience and expertise enables us to bring efficient and practical solutions to today's labor and employment law problems.

In this role, the Information Governance & Privacy Specialist will have the opportunity to work across various Information Governance and privacy principles as a valued member of the Information Governance (IG) team. This position reports to and works closely with the Director of Information Governance to implement an integrated IG and privacy program designed to optimize the firm's use of its information assets and the ensure the firm's information strategy aligns with regulatory and privacy requirements.

This position is based in the firm's Atlanta Corporate Office and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office attendance one day per week. Position Responsibilities
  • Support processes within the IG team's scope, such as data classification & labeling, DSARs, privacy assessments, and record retention & deletion
  • Promote the adoption of the firm's IG and privacy initiatives
  • Provide support to data administrators and stewards in managing firm information assets
  • Assist users with following IG and privacy policies and processes
  • Track and report on IG and privacy process metrics
  • Monitor 3rd party providers to ensure they adhere to the firm's governance, compliance, and privacy standards
  • Manage processes related to records retention, data minimization, ethical walls, legal holds, and other privacy requirements
  • Collaborate with your IG, IT, and Security team members to identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Perform standardized review and audit processes for IG and privacy related policies and processes
  • Provide guidance with inbound and outbound file transfers to ensure firm and client obligations are met
  • Collaborate with the IT and Security teams as firm initiatives require
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Information Governance or CIO
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (3+ years' experience in eDiscovery, records, information governance, legal operations, or privacy with an emphasis on project management).
  • Good understanding of information technology architecture
  • Familiar with domestic and international data privacy laws and other compliance certifications. (ex. CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI)
  • Familiar with general security principles
  • Strong project management and customer service skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology at a deep level.
  • Advanced communication and written skills.
  • Excellent organization, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism, and client-service orientation.
  • Strong sense of urgency and a high-energy level
  • Experience with the following is a plus: information governance software such as BigID, contract management systems such as Agiloft, Intapp, Jira, iManage Work 10, iManage Share, Office 365, Varonis, Digital Guardian, and MS Purview Compliance.
