Job Title: Information Governance Specialist

Fisher Phillips is seeking an experienced Information Governance Specialist to support the firm's governance and data privacy initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Information Governance to implement an integrated IG and privacy program, optimizing the firm's use of information assets and ensuring alignment with regulatory and privacy requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support processes within the IG team's scope, including data classification, DSARs, privacy assessments, and record retention and deletion.
  • Promote the adoption of the firm's IG and privacy initiatives.
  • Provide support to data administrators and stewards in managing firm information assets.
  • Assist users with following IG and privacy policies and processes.
  • Track and report on IG and privacy process metrics.
  • Monitor third-party providers to ensure they adhere to the firm's governance, compliance, and privacy standards.
  • Manage processes related to records retention, data minimization, ethical walls, legal holds, and other privacy requirements.
  • Collaborate with the IG, IT, and Security teams to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Perform standardized review and audit processes for IG and privacy-related policies and processes.
  • Provide guidance on inbound and outbound file transfers to ensure firm and client obligations are met.
  • Collaborate with the IT and Security teams as firm initiatives require.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (3+ years' experience in eDiscovery, records, information governance, legal operations, or privacy with an emphasis on project management).
  • Good understanding of information technology architecture.
  • Familiar with domestic and international data privacy laws and other compliance certifications (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI).
  • Familiar with general security principles.
  • Strong project management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology at a deep level.
  • Advanced communication and written skills.
  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong leadership skills.
  • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy, professionalism, and client-service orientation.
  • Strong sense of urgency and a high-energy level.
  • Experience with information governance software, contract management systems, and other relevant tools is a plus.
