JOB SUMMARY

The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for independently planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care and policy and procedure. They provide direct nursing care to patients, assume teaching and leadership responsibilities, and participate in unit committee and quality improvement activities with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Locate and document medical and nursing patient care information in the electronic or paper medical record
  • Obtain patient history using appropriate interview techniques
  • Deliver patient care and treatment using problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Administer medication safely and accurately, and evaluate outcomes of care
  • Complete care assignments in a reasonable amount of time and follow hospital standards related to Kronos system
  • Attend courses and in-services, maintain clinical skills, and serve as a preceptor for new employees, coworkers, and students
  • Maintain communication with patient family/significant other as patient progresses through continuum of care, and be available for on-call duty

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida, with one year of recent OR experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) certifications required, along with intermediate computer knowledge using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
