Summary

The Cloud Platform Engineering Team is seeking a DevOps-minded Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join our talented group in Boise, Idaho. We design and implement mission-critical operating environments within both public cloud and globally distributed on-premises private cloud environments. The Cloud Platform Engineering team enables and empowers Simplot's global application delivery and data engineering teams to operate in the optimal location for any given solution. Our platform solutions are developed and deployed as code using leading edge tools and practices. Must reside in the Boise, ID area.

Key Responsibilities

As a Linux Platform Engineer you will:

  • Design performant, scalable, and resilient solutions that deliver incredible business value.
  • Operate on-premises (global datacenters and factory/edge locations) as well as the public cloud (Azure and AWS).
  • Implement SUSE, Red Hat, and Ubuntu Linux platforms to deliver enterprise applications.
  • Collaborate within the team using Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Treat infrastructure as code using Ansible, Terraform, and Python.
  • Drive the ongoing adoption of DevOps principals and CI/CD.
  • Ensure that solutions are designed to be monitored with tools such as Splunk and CheckMK.
  • Participate in L3 production support and incident response for our team's globally deployed environments.
Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4-year college or university OR equivalent work experience.

Relevant Experience
  • 5+ years working within complex, hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Strong Linux (SUSE, RHEL, Ubuntu) administration skills.
  • Solid coding skills and a focus on security.
  • Disciplined version control, build, test, and release skills.
  • The inclination to continuously learn and to evolve your technical skills.
  • The willingness to teach and to mentor.
  • Excellent communication and business engagement skills.
  • A collaborative, team focus and a passion for people.
  • The desire to work on truly challenging, global-scale problems.
