Position Summary

Perform MRI duties in compliance with Radiology department and legal requirements. Help patients feel comfortable during the entire process. Perform selected nursing, lab, administrative, and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of a Physician, PA, or NP. These duties are delegated in relation to the individual's degree of training, in accordance with the objectives and policies of the organization and respective state laws governing such action and activities.
In this role the MRI Technologist will operate MRI scanner to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes. Provides leadership and technical support to MRI services, assuring that services are provided within professional standards and with excellent customer service. Remains self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.
Responsible for patient safety and the performance of high quality MRI studies. Insures effective communication with customers, including Radiologists as necessary. In some instances, trains new technologists and/or other radiology support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • (80%) Patient Imaging
    • Performs routine and advanced MRI procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats
    • Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination including cardiac pacemaker, aneurysm clips, stapedectomy and eye surgery.
    • Prepares patients for MRI procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure and positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned
    • Explain examination procedures to patients while considering their physical and emotional needs.
    • Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed
    • Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain proper position of patient for imaging.
    • Prepares room, equipment, medicine and materials as needed for patient care and exams. Includes contrast media and other medications as needed.
    • Administer IV contrast when applicable for MRI exams.
    • Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologists, referring offices and other associates and peers
    • Converses with doctors, nurses, patients and family members as required
    • Follows physicians' orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect themselves, patients, and coworkers
    • Complete assigned tasks accurately while following established procedures and policies.
    • Perform duties in times of crisis and during emergency and overtime situations.
    • Maintains accurate patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
    • Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers
    • Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements
    • Work assignments may include Weekday &Weekend (AM) Dayshift, (PM) Nightshift or On Call Duty per hospital needs.
    • Standby and On Call Duty might be required as part of the job duties for rotational basis.
    • Other duties may be assigned.
  • (15%) Department Support
    • Maintains equipment in good working order; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use
    • Assists with maintaining an updated MRI protocol manual and software upgrades
    • Monitors and restocks medications and medical supply inventory
    • Assists with training of new associates, providing resource and technical expertise
    • Plans and utilizes work time efficiently.
    • Provides own patient transport if patient transporter is not available
    • Demonstrates good problem solving skills.
    • Demonstrates effective communication skills with co-workers and physicians.
    • Makes suggestions to improve work methods.
    • Trains new employees.
    • Perform administrative and clerical jobs as needed.
    • Participate in quality assurance and improvements programs of the department.
  • (5%) Performs other duties as assigned


Qualifications

• ARRT registered technologist, current and in good standing
• ARRT RT (R) and Advanced (MR) certification
• A current (CRT) certificate in Radiologic Technology for the state of California.
• Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) or American College of Radiology (ACR) approved school of diagnostic imaging
• MRI experience of minimum 1 year required
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), preferred.
• Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) BLS certification
• Current Venipuncture Certification.
• Training and experience sufficient to competently perform MR and/or radiographic procedures independently.
• Bilingual Language (Cantonese or Mandarin or Both)

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compliance Requirements

Complies with Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.

Base Pay Scale

Starting at $72.22 - $82.83 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
