The Used Equipment Inspector is responsible for reporting and inspecting used equipment to determine overall condition.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Perform inspections on used machines that the company is reviewing for trade, for purchase and all lease return machines.
  • Provide timely and descriptive feedback on condition of various machines.
  • Fill in for other territory inspectors when necessary.
  • Occasionally assist the sales group with customer deliveries on new machines. This involves meeting with the customer shortly after new machine delivery and reviewing proper operating techniques, maintenance practices, safety, etc.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Should have a solid understanding of heavy equipment from the mechanical and operational viewpoint.
  • Should have 5-10 years of CAT equipment experience.
  • These individuals must have a strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of general machine operation.
  • Must be able to operate, to a limited degree, all of the products that we sell.
  • Must be able to recognize machine problems and failures on the products that they inspect for trade and purchase. This includes powertrain knowledge, structural knowledge, the ability to measure undercarriage, etc.
  • Self-directed individual who works with little or no supervision.
  • Independent computer skills and organization skills required. Typing skills desired and ability to make common sense decisions and ability to think.
  • Must be highly proficient in machine and engine maintenance with complete understanding of heavy equipment.
  • Good leadership skills, significant mechanical aptitude, good written/verbal communication skills and customer relation skills.
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must have a passport for overseas travel or be willing to acquire one.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Required travel up to 80%, does require some overnight requirements.
