POSITION OVERVIEW

First Baptist Church of Glenarden (FBCG) is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Administrative/Volunteer Coordinator. This full-time position reports directly to the Director of the Serve Group and is instrumental in supporting the various ministries and events of our church through the recruitment, engagement, and training of volunteers.

The Administrative/Volunteer Coordinator will play a pivotal role in fostering a sense of community and ensuring the smooth operation of church activities by assisting the director with recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers. This position is integral to fulfilling the mission of FBCG and supporting the vision of our church leadership. This is a full-time position on our day shift; however, schedule flexibility is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment and Onboarding:
  • Assist with developing and implementing volunteer recruitment processes.
  • Serve as a liaison between staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with organizing churchwide volunteer recruitment campaigns.
  • Manage the onboarding process for new volunteers.
Training and Development Support:
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders to identify volunteer needs.
  • Assist the director with developing and delivering training programs for volunteers.
  • Provide ongoing support for volunteer development.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and databases.
  • Generate regular reports on volunteer participation and achievements.
Scheduling and Coordination:
  • Develop master schedules for volunteer assignments.
  • Communicate regularly with volunteers and ministry leaders.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules with programmatic needs.
Communication and Engagement:
  • Cultivate positive relationships with volunteers.
  • Ensure accurate posting of volunteer opportunities online.
  • Maintain regular communication channels with volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be saved, have a servant’s heart, and be a member in good standing or willing to become a member in good standing of FBCG.
  • Must have an active prayer life, have a servant’s heart, possess Godly character and support the vision of FBCG.
  • High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of administrative and customer service experience.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, initiative, accuracy and attention to detail, and an ability to learn things quickly.
  • Experience with database management and reporting.
  • Must have a teachable spirit, be a team player, and bring a level of creativity to the office.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be team oriented and flexible in demeanor and work schedule.
  • Must have advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook/Teams), Zoom, Internet usage, current technology skills, etc.
  • Must be able to perform a variety of administrative support work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Using sound independent judgment within general policy and procedural guidelines.
  • Must be able to prioritize own work, performing several tasks at one time, and meeting critical deadlines.
